Fleet Maintenance Response Desk Supervisor

The Maintenance Response Desk Supervisor is responsible for providing customers and drivers with a quality resolution due to a bus failure while substantially reducing costs from outside vendors.  They are also responsible for providing detailed bus failure information to maintenance personnel and other departments throughout Greyhound field and corporate operations


  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Associate Degree (Business or Management) preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams)
  • Strong familiarity with US geography
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Must exercise ability to make quick decisions and solve problems
  • Proven ability to exercise positive and effective customer service skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written and exercise active listening skills
  • Ability to make sound operational decisions during stressful situations
  • Proven help desk skills with diesel and electrical system repair aptitude
  • Must be willing and available to work a variety of shifts in a mission critical 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays


  • Respond to bus failures by investigating and providing prompt and economical assistance
  • Expedite approval for bus repairs with outside vendors inclusive of towing, negotiating with vendors and arrangement for replacement equipment
  • Ensure prompt reporting of information to Field Operations and Managers
  • Document repairs in an internal maintenance database (M5)
  • Coordinate and approve all invoices with Purchasing Department. Initiate cost control measures
  • Negotiate and verify repairs made by outside vendors with maintenance manager
  • Responsible for follow-up with internal customers on outcome of the bus failure and resolve issues that arise from an equipment/vehicle failure
  • Receive all incoming breakdown and collision calls, complete the necessary reports, and communicate to appropriate personnel
  • Act as liaison with outside agencies (i.e., law enforcement, hospital official, etc.) during failure or accident investigation
  • Assist operators over the phone with real-time troubleshooting of breakdowns and equipment failures
  • Work with preferred vendors and towing services via phone, email, text to arrange recovery/repair or relocation of coaches in a timely manner.
  • Issue purchase orders and pay invoices for equipment repairs
  • Other duties as assigned
