Senior Vehicle Safety Engineer Key Objectives & Responsibilities: Reporting to the Vehicle Safety Attribute Manager, you will lead the setting, verification, and validation of vehicle safety targets across a complete vehicle programme. In this role, you ll work closely with other members of the Safety team, Safety component/system owners and Function Group teams to ensure that the vehicle design and its safety features will enable the programme safety targets to be met. The Role: You will provide guidance to the vehicle system, occupant and pedestrian protection CAE teams and interpret CAE model outputs. You ll also support problem solving and issue resolution. You ll stay abreast of upcoming changes in safety regulations & consumer protocols and guide the vehicle development process accordingly. You ll develop vehicle safety test plans, and also guide and support safety-related test activities. You ll be responsible for performing safety test data analysis to support safety attribute performance development, identifying and communicating direction for design change. You ll work with the Electrical teams to ensure that sensing and ADAS systems enable the vehicle safety targets to be met As a member of a small team, you ll also be expected to lead and/or support other safety-related activities and will be comfortable with embracing new challenges. Travel will be required within the UK (for example to test houses) and occasionally globally. Requirements: You will preferably have a bachelor s degree or equivalent in a relevant area with automotive industry experience working in an automotive vehicle safety area. You will be familiar with OEM and supplier product development systems. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivering automotive vehicle safety performance to global safety standards. You ll have experience of leading vehicle crash safety-related activities through the concept, virtual and physical testing phases of vehicle development. You ll have expertise in the use of safety test data analysis software packages. You ll also be familiar with CAE tools and techniques and be able to interpret and critique results. You ll have experience of specifying, coordinating and delivering safety test activity (via external test houses).
