£22,500 + Benefits We are looking for a Shepherd/Assistant Stockman to undertake the following duties on a day-to-day basis:?

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a flock of Breeding Sheep as per the Estate requirements
  • Accurately record all Sheep births, deaths, dosing's, dipping's and movements etc.
  • Arrange all Sheep gatherings, clippings and dosing as per individual seasons
  • Responsible for your flock Husbandry and Welfare
  • Assist in Maintaining a Herd of Breeding Cattle plus followers as per the Estates requirements
  • Assist in Accurately recording all Cattle/Calves births, deaths, dosing's, and movements
  • Assist in all handling days as per individual season requirement
  • Assist with all Herd Husbandry and Welfare
  • Full Knowledge of current livestock rules and regulations
  • Carry out all Grassland works, Fertiliser, Cropping, Dung, Field Rotation etc.
  • Cutting small Trees/Grass on lawns, verge's, riverbanks, keep all grounds tidy and well presented
  • Assist during the Deer Culling Season's and feeding when required
  • Assist with Road and Argo Track repairs/maintenance
  • Keep all Agricultural sheds, buildings, workshops, houses and gardens tidy and well presented
  • Fencing & Gates maintenance/repair/checking & Erection of new Fences/Gates
  • Assist the clients and guests during visits in varied activities as and when required
  • Assist with other general maintenance on the Estate
  • Any other general Estate duties as and when required?

Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities

  • Proven experience of working with a large flock of ewes and other livestock in varied climates and conditions
  • Must have good working Collies
  • Highly experienced in lambing Ewes
  • Experienced in the use of farm machinery and equipment
  • Proven ability to use ATV's-Argos, Quads, multi-tracked vehicles
  • Possess a full valid UK driving licence
  • Applicant will be joining a team but also working alone
